Wing Commander S.Janakarajan(Retd.) , Rotarian
[edit]Rotarian S.Janakarajan is a retired Wing Commander from Indian Air force and currently an Active Rotarian.
He was born to VMPM Shanmuganathan andSeethalakshmiAmmal on 20th August 1942 in Aruppukottai. He was raised in Virudhunagar.
While serving in Air force he took active role in1971 war in Pakistan to liberate Bangladesh.
He retired from Air force in late 90s. He worked as a professor at a private college in Tamil Nadu before becoming active Rotarian.
During his personal visit in USA he represented Virudhunagar Rotary at Texas Sunset Rotary club. His speech on the Indian Rotary and their initiative was appreciated.
He is also working with his brother S.Kasinagalingam toremove encroachment on the Lake referred as URANI which was given by his ancestors. This lake is located inAruppukotai to provide water and combat climate control.
Early life and education
[edit]S.Janakarajan was born on 20th August 1942 in Arupukotai. He did his primary schooling in Aruppukottai and Tuticorin.Completed his higher secondary schooling in KVS Virudhunagar and completed his electrical engineering in Annamalai University at Chidambaram in the year 1965.His basic instinct is social service and to be in uniform .He was in CUBS(scout) during his primary schooling at higher secondary in scout at college NCC
Throughout his school and college days he was considered as one of the bright and smartest student in his class. He passed BE in 1st class with honors. He was a rank student.
In the year 1962 the core personality of him is nationalism he went for selection to join Indian Armyunder OTUS (officers training unit scheme) as he was NCC cadet
During 1965 as per the constitution of India Hindi was supposed to be only link language. As he was ardently following India’s spiritualism, he was considering Tamil language as his mother he opposed imposition of Hindi. Similar feeling was felt in entire TamilNadu .So entire Tamil Nādu rose against imposition of Hindi as he and his fellow students tried to march in peaceful manner into Chidambaram to demonstrate opposition to imposition of Hindi. Police blocked the procession and opened fire he narrowly escaped by fire shooting.
In 1965 he worked as a lecturer in VSVN Polytechnic on an honorary basis followed by lecturer at CIT followed by as a designer at Hindustan Aeronautics. Married Nirmala daughter of leading dall and oil merchant of Hyderabad on 23rd June 1966
His Tenure in Indian Airforce

[edit]June1966 As his basic urge is to defend the nation he joined Indian Air force as a pilot officer .During course of service IAF he took active role in1971 war Pakistan to liberate Bangladesh. He had the honor to be part of small event in the house of then president of Bangladesh Mehboor Rehman to have breakfast with him.
Post 1971 War
[edit]IAF sent him on deputation to many courtiers like USA, England, France, Germany, for various short mission.
He went to ONGC, Mumbai in deputation.
As last leg of service he was on deputation to Defense Research i.e. DRDO. He had the honor to live as next room neighbour of Dr Abdul Kalam (who became president of India later) finally he hung his uniform from an IAF station; after performing glorious service in IAF i.e. for nation.
Post Retirement
[edit]For short duration he worked as Professor at a Private college in Tamil Nadu.
After leaving the college he became an active Rotarian.
During his personal visit to USA he represented Virudhunagar Rotary at Texas Sunset Rotary club. His speech on the Indian rotary and their initiative was appreciated. He is actively involved in social services
He is also working with his brother S. Kasinagalingam to remove encroachment on the URNI (Lake) which was give by his ancestors to Aruppukottai to provide water and combat climate control.
Wg Cdr S Janakarajan and his wife Nirmala are active Rotarian, always consider service above self.
