In fluid dynamics Beltrami flows are flows in which the velocity vector $\mathbf {v}$ and the vorticity vector $\mathbf {\omega } =\nabla \times \mathbf {v}$ are parallel to each other, named after the mathematician Eugenio Beltrami, who derived the Beltrami vector field.
