About me
[edit]Hello, folks!
My name is Amanda, but people tend to call me Fries for short. I am a student for at Mt. San Antonio College for a Women and Gender in Art History course, and I am hoping to learn more about the context of gender identity and sexual orientation in the classroom and beyond. I am excited to learn from my fellow Wikipedians!
Some fun facts about me:
I am currently a Psychology and Social Justice Studies major.
My concentration of Social Justice Studies is "Gender and Sexuality."
I work at my school's Pride Center.
I am the Vice President of my school's Gender Sexuality Alliance.
About my Wikipedia Assignment Artist
[edit]Going off on what I said about my Women and Gender in Art History class, I chose to write about Pidgeon Pagonis, an intersex artist and advocate. I chose from a list of Wikipedia stubs that needed revisions. Pidgeon's art is incredibly personal and powerful to me, and I want to be a better ally for the intersex community as a transgender/nonbinary person myself. One particular piece of art from Pidgeon that was impactful and inspiring was a specific article about intersexuality in the context of the community. [1] I find their writing to be incredibly well-said, because this piece discussed the ethical debate surrounding whether or not intersex people should identify as a part of the LGBTQ community.
