It contains all five sections in one large compilation, and focuses on Ennogant Rran, Erik Elilianalia, and Silverbud, three different beings from completely different backgrounds, as they embark on a mission to stop the Rohaka, an evil organization intent on harvesting the powers of Supernaturals, from bringing the dreaded Dark Gods into the universe from the Dark Dimension.
Books
[edit]Supernatural
[edit]The story begins one of the main characters Erik Elilianalia in the middle of a quest to explore the evil flying island Lockra with a three-person team of knights, one of whom had already died. Erik is attacked by a gigantic spider who kills his remaining crew members. But, out of nowhere, Ennogant Rran, a woman who accidentally traveled from the other side of the universe, kills the spider, saving Erik. Ennogant has the ability to conjure daggers of light using only her mind, ranging to any size.
With Ennogant is Mason Loki, her friend who is severly injured. Ennogant is surprised, though, when Erik uses necromantic powers, given to him by the Dread Prince Kor, a Dark God who chose Erik to bring him into the physical world by living inside his head for five years. Ennogant, not fully trusting Erik now, uses her powers to escape Lockra in Erik's broken sky ship. The sky ship crashes on Kurse, the planet of evil on which the Rohaka reside, a fact which the duo soon discovery when they are captured by Vortex and Halt, two of the four founding members of the vile group.
Ennogant and Erik barely escape, but Vortex and Halt (along with Ether and Shrike Nero, the other founding members) learn that Erik is harboring Kor, and know that they must be cautious around him. Meanwhile, Erik reveals that he stole a list of supernaturals—a group of living beings that have powers, which Erik and Ennogant are—whose powers the Rohaka want to steal and harvest. Erik and Ennogant pick the first name on the list (Silverbud, a Lau Vinia from the planet Magik) and set out to find her in a spaceship.
Out of the Shadows
[edit]In the prologue, a young Silverbud is born without powers—a disgrace in her community of Lau Vinia—and finds four gems that control the elements that she uses to trick outsiders into thinking she has innate power. Back in the present, Silverbud gets an awkward visit from Erik and Ennogant, who tell her of the Rohaka's dastardly plan. At first she disbelieves them, but after they spend the night they convince her to reluctantly join their small crew.
Then, Loki awakens and is immediately captured by the Rohaka, leading to a series of escalating arguments between the three heroes, creating a circle of distrust. In the midst of the fights, Silverbud discovers a secret room in the hull of the ship, Ennogant's guilt for causing her brothers' death prior to the beginning of the series grows, and Kor begins to permanently destroy Erik's consciousness and take over his body.
In the last couple chapters, Erik directs the ship's built in computer to pilot them to Kurse, where the sense a life form, who turns out to be Visley, a supernatural who is also on the Rohaka's list of superpowered beings, and he is with Saze, and android. While boarding the ship, a broken pipe causes an explosion that kills Visley and damages Saze's interface.
The Wrath of Kor
[edit]When Kor begins to speak through Erik's mouth, Silverbud begins to become even more suspicious. Meanwhile, Mason Loki escapes from the Rohaka's base, only to be captured again and put in a torture machine.Erik regains control of his body, and takes one of the ship's escape pods so as not to unknowingly hurt his friends. He travels to his home city Shadarah, on the flying island Korrae (named for Kor), which his mean father Ekrim Elilianalia rules with an iron fist. Kor leads Erik to the base of the Daybreakers a secret society intent on putting an end to Kor's reign of terror and taking the city for himself, where they meet Erik's sister, the leader of the Daybreakers, Elia Elilianalia.
Back on the ship, Ennogant finds out about Silverbud's gems, and Ennogant later demands to know what they are. Silverbud explains, bug hugely regrets her decision. Erik, renewed with a sense of worry that Kor will kill his friends and family decides to kill himself so Kor can never come into the real world using his body. He throws himself off of a cliff just as Elia, then Ennogant and Silverbud (who use a DNA device to track him) try to save him. Elia and Ennogant grieve, and are angry at Silverbud for not being sadder at Erik's death. The Rohaka too arrive at the scene and take Ennogant and Silverbud away. They confine them in separate, power-numbing chambers, and use the experimental torture machine they used on Loki to make Silverbud look dead. Ennogant escapes and finds Saze, but leaves Silverbud because she thinks the Lau is dead. We then see the same events from Silverbud's point of view, and she comes to hate Ennogant for leaving her and escaping by herself. In the epilogue, Erik appears in Elsperia, the land of the dead, a world governed by Ashika the Shadow, the Dark God of death and becomes her slave, along with Visley and his dead Shadarian teammates from book one.
The authors made the title to be a play on the Star Trek movie The Wrath of Khan by replacing the word Kahn, who is the villain of the movie, with Kor, who is the villain of the books.
Freedom and Vengeance
[edit]In the prologue, Ether begins to build a machine that will allow the Dark Gods to safely travel into the real world without the other Rohaka founders. With Kor dead for good, Erik (in Elsperia) realizes that Ashika is also trying to enter the real world, and he must stop her.
Meanwhile, Silverbud escapes on her own, injured, and vows never to try "friendship" again after everyone in her life betrayed her. Ennogant researches up and learns that Erik is in Elsperia. She and Saze, also mourning the apparent death of Silverbud, devise a way to enter Elsperia with dying. There they meet Erik, who tells them that Silverbud's not there, and is still alive. They team up and defeat Ashika, killing her. Erik becomes the new Ashika, and gains all her powers and the title the Shadower. Unable to take Visley, Erik, or Erik's old teammates with them back to the Iluthizar Dimension, Ennogant and Saze go back to look for Silverbud, who was arrived back at the ship to have a stern word with Ennogant.
Unbeknownst to the heroes, the Rohaka are planning a huge attack, and Ether is secretly working to bring the Dark Gods (which now includes Erik) into the Iluthizar Dimension, while Elia gathers the Daybreakers to rally against them. The Rohaka attacks, and it is a fight of about fifty supernaturals versus fifty Daybreakers, when Ennogant is nearly beaten to death by Halt. Halt is about to fire a killing shot on Ennogant, when Silverbud jumps in front of the laser, saving Ennogant, who is glad that they are finally freinds. Silverbud dies, but wakes up surrounded by her friends having become the entity of life—the Guardian.
But then, to the surprise of the heroes, the Daybreakers, and the Rohaka (who are all but defeated) Ether reveals herself to be a Dark God, and activates a machine that creates a portal to the Dark Dimension, though which the Dark Gods emerge.
