Born on 23rd of April,1964 in a small village of erstwhile Cuttack district of Odisha. Father Kailash Chandra Acharya was a village priest and mother Swarnalata Acharya a homemaker. After school education in village primary school did his matriculation from Alanahat High School in 1981. During his college days, he was actively associated with Students’ Politics and was elected as the General Secretary and President of Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar college students union at Bhubaneswar. Having obtained Honours with distinction in Political Science he did his Masters in Political Science from Utkal University. While in University Law College he was also elected as President of the Student’s Union.
Acharya was an eloquent orator in both English and Odia and has bagged a good number of prizes in school and college level debate competitions. He was adjudged first in the inter-college debate competition and was awarded Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo Gold Medal.
After marrying Bandita Dash in 1989, the couple started their life journey in a humble way and worked as Sub Editors in then English daily “The Sun Times” published from Bhubaneswar.
In 1991 Acharya joined as a practising lawyer in Orissa High Court under the able guidance of Gangadhar Rath, the former Advocate General of Odisha. During a short time, Acharya made his presence felt in the legal fraternity and successfully conducted many cases of importance in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Cooperative, Academic and Service matters. He has appeared for a large number of public and private bodies and constitutional institutions like ODISHA Legislative Assembly and State Election Commission.
He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Full Court of the Orissa High Court in 2011 and has been actively practising in almost all important branches of law. As a leader of the Bar Acharya was elected as a member of the ODISHA State Bar Council from 2008-2013.
His love for public service prompted him to join active politics as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2017. Being the state Spokesperson and Vice President of the state organisation of Bharatiya Janata Party he brought several misdeeds of the ODISHA Government to public notice and exerted his best endeavour to enrich the Party and the organisation. In recognition of his contribution to the party, Acharya was chosen as the official candidate of BJP against State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the Hinjili Assembly constituency in 2019 General Assembly Elections and polled around 24% of the vote share.

Daughter: Srishti Acharya, After completion of BA(Hons) in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University pursuing her Master's Course in Health Economics in London School of Economics, UK
