Emiliana Borrelli (born in Naples, Italy) is an Italian scientist and educator. She was educated at the University of Naples, where she graduated with a PhD in biological science, and has trained in France and at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in the United States. She has served as the Director of Research at the IGBMC (Institut de génétique et de biologie moléculaire et cellulaire, Genomics Institute of molecular and cellular biology) in Strasbourg, France. Borrelli currently serves as a professor of microbiology and molecular genetics at the University of California in Irvine, California.
In 1997 Borrelli became a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization.
