BeyondMedia Education is an organization with the mission of

Salome Chasnoff created the organization in 1996 as a "media activism group" to rectify "the exclusion of some women from the 'information revolution' of the 1990s."[1]


"Beyondmedia's mission is to collaborate with under-served and under-represented women, youth and communities to tell their stories, connect their stories to the world around us, and organize for social justice through the creation and distribution of alternative media arts."[2]


Beyondmedia's Women and Prison Project was awarded the 2003 Lawrence Towner Award by the Illinois Humanities Council for "imagination and risk-taking in the development and execution of a public humanities project."[2]
