Stone, copper, and bronze statues, including statues of the twelve Apostles that surrounded the base of the spire, had been removed from the site days prior to the 2019 fire as part of the renovations.[8][9]

[edit]- ^ Ringing order, used to identify which bells ring during a particular sonnerie, or ringing pattern; generally numbered from lowest to highest strike tone. The clock bells were not included in ringing patterns.
- ^ Sources using pre-Revolutionary primary sources give mass in pounds (French: livres). This is most likely the livre actuelle, also called the livre de Paris or livre de poids de marc, equal to about 0.4895 kilograms. Compare pound measurements in Gilbert (1821, pp. 149–150) with kilogram measurements in Singer (2012, p. 204) .

(Compare pound measurements in Gilbert (1821, pp. 149–150) with kilogram measurements in Singer (2012, p. 204) .) In cases in which the source provides an apparently rounded number (e.g. 23,000 lbs) and this produces a deceptively accurate conversion (e.g. 11,258 kg), the word "about" is included.
- ^ Gilbert wrote that the final version of Guillaume weighed "seven thousand two pounds" (sept mille deux livres). Society interpreted this literally as 7,002 lbs, yielding 3,427 kg. Singer interpreted this as "seven thousand two [hundred] pounds" or 7,200, yielding 3,524 kg
