Introduction
Thailand is a place full of variety of fruits. Tamarind or Makham in Thai is one of the popular fruits made in many different products such as food dessert or drink. In Thai cooking, the tamarind can be eaten raw for an unusual taste treat.The taste is similar to dates, with a slightly sweet and sour tone and very rich (Pattayamail, 2012). Tamarind candy is one of the snacks which has strong and variety taste.
How to
[edit]The process of making Thai tamarind candy is simple. To make Thai tamarind candy, the ingredients you need are tamarind, Thai-chilli powder, sugar, and salt.
First of all, prepare the tamarind pulp or tamarind paste, take out all tamarind seeds. Put the tamarind pulp or put the tamarind paste in a large container and soak with the warm water,for 1 hour, mix well to dissolve the tamarind, then pour this into a strainer and work the mixture through the strainer as much as possible (Importfood, 2016). Pour all ingredients. This part is optional to how spicy or sweet you want but keep in mind to always start from small first.
After finish mixing it, let it sit for awhile and keep it properly by conceal it. Do not let the air from outside come in. This will help keep the freshness of the tamarind candy.

[edit]As we know thai tamarind candy is usually made with tamarind pulp chilli powder sugar and salt which has low-calorie. For one serving, five pieces or 28 g, contains just 60 calories, contain 15 g of carbohydrates, 1 g of fiber and 13 g of sugar,1 g of protein, 40 mg of sodium,1 percent of your daily value for iron and calcium (Livestrong, 2015).

[edit]Tamarind is impressively high in vitamin C,E, B, calcium, iron and many good minerals which protect us from diseases and improve our body. Research has found that “ The health benefits of tamarind have been well-studied and include the ability to reduce inflammation throughout the body, improve eye health, boost respiratory health, heal skin conditions, improve the digestive system, relieve pain, increase the strength of the immune system, reduce fever, reducing blood pressure lower cholesterol to improve cardiovascular health, treat piles, prevent cancer, and even protect children against parasites and worms” (Organicfacts, n.d.).
