Bighoto is a term mainly used by Britishers.Bighoto is a tarct of country starting from Delhi terrritory , from Rewari on the borders of Mewat. to the Bikaner frontier and was dominated by Yaduvanshi Ahirs who today are known as Yadavs.[1][2] According to Sir Henry Miers Elliot Bighoto includes Rewari, Bawal, Kanon, Pataudi, Kotkasim, and a great part of the Bahraich Jagir.
"Boghoto ko do dhani Khoro aur Chauhan"
That is, "Bighoto has two lords, Khoros (amongst Ahirs), and Chauhans (amongst Rajputs).[3]
Name history
[edit]The name of Bighoto, or Bighota as it is sometimes called, is derived from Bigha Raj, a worthy descendant of the illustrious Prithviraj Chauhan.[4]
