Photo-Genesis - Redefining Photography
Photo Genesis is a photographic art community for artists of visual medium, with a strong emphasis on photography and photographic art. Photo Genesis is owned and run by Eugene Bradford, originally launched in 2003 as a small gallery for a small selection of friends.
More recently a community forum was introdused to encourage people share their expreences and knoledge, covering many photographic subjects including:
- High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography, which is devided into two main formats, exposure blending and tone mapping. This process is done using software such as Adobe Photoshop or Photomatix Pro.
- Photography, both traditional wet process photography using a darkroom and digital photography.
- Equipment, with information on photographic and photography related equipment.
- Web design, to help members develop their own persional websites.
- Tutorials, to share your techniques and learn about new or established methds, with photo editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop or Coral Paintshop Pro.
- Work in progress, for offereing photographs for evaluation and honest but constructive critique
Membership to the forum is free to the public, where members that wish to contribute to the gallery may submit a portfolio for consideration.
Participation in the forum is lively and entertaining, while at the same time meaningful and educational.
Photo Genesis is active in community affairs through classroom support in local schools, working with artists to further their careers.
The Photo Genesis philosophy as described by owner Egene Bradford should become known by everyone visiting the galleries, forum and everyone exhibiting and contributing to them.
It's important to know where we come from and where we are headed, in order to fully understand the attitude and ideals involved.
Photo Genesis also believes that the art should be available to anyone wishing to experience or immerse themselves in the arts whether for visual gratafication or participation.
