Ernest Wilfred Higgins, 'Wilf' was an amateur cyclist specializing in track sprinting. He was a member of the Manchester Wheelers cycling club often riding the cycle track at Fallowfield, Manchester.
His list of successes includes: Empire Games Sprint Champion, London, 1934
Personal Life. 'Wilf' worked as an instrument mechanic in the University at Manchester in his day job, and had a small private Chiropody practice run form his home in Whalley Range, Manchester. Marrying late in life, many thought he was a life long confirmed bachelor, he spent the final months of his life in a nursing home nearby and not knowing his wife on her visits.
