EMILY MAGUIRE
Emily Maguire (born London 1978) is an Australian based UK singer songwriter
Her first album, Stranger Place (2004), was released to widespread public acclaim in Australia and featured the single: Falling On My Feet. Her sophomore album: Keep Walking was released 18 months later and in the UK in March 2008.[1] This featured the eponymous single: Keep Walking which was playlisted by BBC Radio 2. Her latest album: Believer was released in November 2009 and features the singles: Lighthouse Man and I’d Rather Be - both playlisted at BBC Radio 2.[2]
She currently lives between Bath in the UK and her home in Australia: A potato sack, tin and wood shack in the Obi Obi Valley in Queensland. Built entirely from second hand and recycled products. The shack has only basic electricity and only recently installed running water.
She was brought up in Cambridge where she was acknowledged as a cello prodigy and arranges and plays the majority of string parts on her recorded albums.[3]
Her music is described as acoustic soul and includes contributions from Geoff Dugmore, Luke Potashnik and her partner and producer, collaborator and bassist: Christian Dunham.
