before the name marainhill this place belong to Amangangeni, the arrival of the missionaries in 1872 appoach the chief lokthwayo of Amanganga to give them a piece of land to build thier churches, hospital, school and other services even before the city of gold Jahannesburg was development the Marainhill place was their. they did not buy that land, in reality that land still belong to Amanganga however today its now known as private property for the romans catholic church...
