Dr Ishmael Iheanyichukwu Anyadiegwu is a renowned Nigerian Medical Practitioner, politician and businessman. He was born in south eastern Nigeria on the 26th of december 1938. He attended medical school at the old Kalinin State Medical Institute Russia, after which he worked as a Consultant surgeon at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lovanium in Kinshasa, Zaire (Democratic republic of Congo) and General hospital Oguta, Imo state, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Proctology, New York and the West African College of Surgeons as well as the International College of Surgeons, Chicago. He received an award for his outstanding contribution to medical practice in Nigeria and has five scientific publications to his credit. In 1977-1983, He Worked with the Imo state government as commissioner for land and survey and also commissioner for public utilities, under the Ist governor of old Imo state, Chief Sam Mbakwe. He is well known in Imo state as "Oku na Mmiri", meaning "Light and water" due to his works as commissioner for public utilities. He continues to play an active role in politics in Imo state. In 2005, Dr Ishmael Iheanyichukwu Anyadiegwu was appointed as a non executive director in First inland bank, now Finbank in Nigeria.
