This User's profile's name is named in honour of the Eastern Ground Parrot (Pezoporus wallicus), in which is the User's favourite animal.
Hello! My name is Pezoporus wallicus as you can see, but Orlando is my real name. I am very interested in the native plants of Australia. One of my favourite things to do when I'm in the bush, is to just... wander around. I like to take my time to notice every kind of plant that is beside me, whether it be a tiny fungi or a massive moreton bay fig.
I have a iNaturalist account, here is the link - https://www.inaturalist.org/people/orlandob
My favourite species of vascular plant with a tree habit is the White Beech (Gmelina leichhardtii). I hope to plant one in my front yard.
Hobbies
[edit]A heading of everything that I find enjoyable.
Bonsai
[edit]Bonsai is one of my favourite hobbies. I love the idea of a 100 or 200 year old tree being the size of my palm, it’s incredible all the work that is involved in keeping that plant down to a small state. Some people think that making bonsai is a cruel act... cutting roots, trimming leaves, pulling out bark. But the objective of doing all this is to keep the plant healthy, and at the same time making it look good.[1][2]
Bird-watching
[edit]Bird-watching is another one of my favourite hobbies. Birds that I wish to photograph and document: Silver-eye, Bush Stone-Curlew, and the Channel-billed Cuckoo.
