Candidates for DYK at the Cincinnati Art Museum
[edit]The idea is to focus on works by well-known painters. These works are more likely to have enough written about them to be considered individually notable.
- Oskar Kokoschka - Duchess of Montesquiou-Fezensac : I've written on this piece before and could easily DYK an article on it... Problem is it's not PD.
- Thomas Eakins - Portrait of Archbishop William Henry Elder : I've also written on this piece, so ditto. Great story, too.
- Frank Duveneck - The Whistling Boy : Signature piece of the collection
- Grant Wood - Daughters of Revolution : Well known artist, a lot to write about iconographically speaking... Wood is also finally in the public domain, 70 years having elapsed.
- Ingres - Portrait of Luigi Cherubini : Same as above - well known artist and plenty to write about.
- Sheeler's The Upstairs, Homer's Sunday Morning in Virginia, Gainsborough's Ann Ford, Miro's Mural for the Terrace Plaza Hotel, or Bingham's Order No. 11 would also be good choices. Sheeler is not PD, however.
Cincinnati Museum Center
[edit]Not sure what to do here yet. Are they interested in donating images? Historical photographs of Cincinnati, especially OTR, would be very welcome. Many articles on historical buildings and sites in the city lack images; just look at St. Paulus Kirche, Cincinnati or any of the articles in Category:Churches in Cincinnati or Category:Buildings and structures in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati NRHP sites without photographs and/or articles
[edit]Interesting how a lot of sites in OTR (churches, Germania building, etc) aren't listed. I suppose they're all under the umbrella of the historic district...
- Freeman Grant Cary Pleasant Hill Academy
- Cote Bonneville
- Sedamsville Village Historic District (neither)
- Sedamsville River Road Historic District (photo but no article)
- First Universalist Church (Cincinnati, Ohio)
- Hyde Park Methodist Episcopal Church (photo but no article)
- McKinley School (Cincinnati, Ohio)
- Procter and Collier-Beau Brummell Building
