Lieutenant-colonel Evgeny Petrovich Shkitin (Russian: 1915 – 1968) was a fighter pilot of the Military Navy Air Forces of the Northern Fleet during the Great Patriotic War (1941 – 1945).

Evgeny Shkitin was born in March 1915 in Moscow in a family of worker. After finishing school he studied at National School of Pilots (1936 – 1939) in Yeisk, which he graduated with the rank of junior lieutenant.

On 24th June 1941 Shkitin was assigned to the 2nd Air Squadron of the 46th Air Force Assault Regiment of the Northern Fleet.

Senior lieutenant Shkitin performed four operation flights on the attack plane and damaged enemy ships and airfields.

On 21 July 1943 Shkitin was engaged in a bomb-attack sortie which resulted in the sinking of transport with the displacement of 5000 tons.

On 2nd September 1943 during a sortie senior lieutenant Shkitin sank the enemy transport with the displacement of 8000 tons.

On 3rd September 1943 Shkitin was involved in a sortie that brought about the burning and destruction of the enemy tanker with the displacement of 12000 tons.

On 27th September in the attack on the enemy airfield the naval pilot Shkitin contributed to the heavy damage to the enemy’s manpower and anti-aircraft weapons.

Fighting in the effectives of the Aircraft Ferry Regiment of the MNAF of the Northern Fleet as a commander Senior Lieutenant Shkitin ferried 16 planes to the Field Air Forces from the plants without accidents, the distance being up to 1500 kilometers.

E. P. Shkitin retired on 11th March 1960 in the rank of lieutenant-colonel, died in Moscow in 1968.
