Peter Campbell ran as the Australian Greens candidate for the Division of Kooyong in Victoria, Australia in the 2001 and 2004 federal elections.
The Greens primary vote in Division of Kooyong increased from 10.7% in 2001 to 12.3% in 2004. The sitting member Petro Georgiou (Liberal) suffered a swing against him of -0.42%, which was opposite to the state-wide swing to the Coalition in Victoria. Kooyong received the 11th highest Green primary vote in Australia in 2004.
The Division of Kooyong in inner east Melbourne has traditionally been a "safe" Liberal seat. It is now classified as "fairly safe Liberal" as voters move to the Greens and the Australian Labor Party.
Safe seats don't attract much attention or spending in Australian elections as it is the outcome in marginal seats that determines who wins elections.
