New article name is Midsomer Norton Priory
The Old Priory Hotel is one of the oldest houses in Somerset, and dates back to c.1152[1]. The house was later purchased by Christ Church College, Oxford who owned it until 1712 when it was sold to a private buyer.
A secret tunnel is said to have existed linking the nearby 15th century Tithe Barn (now a catholic church) to The Priory, which was likely to have been used for escape and refuge in the days of religious persecution.
The Priory now accommodates a restaurant, the Moody Goose[2].
