Fundamentals of Coulometry:

- sample analyte is completely consumed

- based on the amount of analyte, not concentration

- measure of charge is absolute. high precision

- no calibration with standard solutions

Constant current:

Pros: simpler, measure time

Cons: can only have one redox-active species or significant redox potential difference; secondary reaction with large applied voltage such as decompositon of solvent or electrode.

Constant potential:

Pros: better control
