The Lake Fire is an active wildfire in Southern California's Santa Barbara County. As of July 5, 2024[update], the fire has burned 4,673 acres (1,891 hectares). The fire's cause is under investigation.[1]

[edit]The Lake Fire was reported near Zaca Lake, in the Los Padres National Forest, before 3:45 p.m. PDT. By 9:00, evacuation warnings went into effect for Figueroa Mountain Road. The fire burned 4,673 acres (1,891 ha) by 11:00 p.m. Conditions during this period were hot and gusty, with temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit and winds with peak gusts ≥15 miles per hour (24 km/h).[2][3]
