Though my expertise is Mon-Khmer and Indic languages, I'm also interested in the intersection between power, language and information, and how semantics alters the perception of the world and the inherent, assumed biases we make towards others. I strongly suggest and consider it a noble goal to emphasise local voices and points of view as primary sources contextual to the non-Western World, and to phase out the assumed primacy of voices that don't originate from the Western World.
