The 2022 Atlanta Reign season will be the Atlanta Reign's fourth season in the Overwatch League and the team's fourth under head coach Brad "Sephy" Rajani. The Reign will look to make the Grand Finals in back-to-back seasons, after making it to the 2021 Grand Finals the previous season.
Preceding offseason
[edit]The Reign's first departure was on October 18, 2021, with the transfer of the 2021 Rookie of the Year Oh "Pelican" Se-hyun to the Houston Outlaws.[1] In the following days, the Reign lost two free agents: damage player Kim "Edison" Tae-hoon signed with the Dallas Fuel,[2] and support player Kim "Ir1s" Seung-hyun signed with the Outlaws.[3] In late November, it was announced that free agent support player Petja "Masaa" Kantanen had signed with the Vancouver Titans.[4]
Three of the Reign's players returned from 2021: tank players Blake "Gator" Scott and Xander "Hawk" Domecq, and damage player Kai "Kai" Collins. Atlanta signed three rookies in the offseason: damage player Lee "Venom" Dong-keun and support players Christian "Ojee" Han and Benjamin "UltraViolet" David. Additionally, the Reign picked up former San Francisco Shock damage player Charlie "nero" Zwarg.[5]
