Welcome! Welkom! Bienvenue! Herzlich Willkommen! Добро пожаловать!

I am now merely copy editing on Wikipedia. Let me first state the following:

a) I have never been, and am not at present a member of the Communist Party, whether Belgian, German, Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian or Russian, nor of any group funded by or supporting the Russian, Lithuanian or German government.

b) most of my connections to Eastern Europe are due to a distant past or to my marriage;

I have accounts on a number of wikis (see other languages) and on Meta (but if you want to comment on English Wikipedia, please use the talk page here.

Articles I created in English Wikipedia, most of them still as Pan Gerwazy: Vinkt Massacre, Said-Magomed Kakiev, Pyotr Leshchenko, Serdtse, Holy Corner (Ghent Béguinage), Remi Schrijnen, Prlwytzkofsky, Theodor Oberländer, Paul Colin (journalist), Piet Vermeylen, Moscou (Ghent)

Articles I edited and co-edited to a large degree: Mayakovskoye, Khanate of Kazan, Vladimir Khodov, Nearer, my God, to Thee, Eupen-Malmedy, Makpal Isabekova, Aman Tuleyev, Pierre De Geyter‎, Ruslan Odizhev

A Masurian Joke

[edit]

"Where were you born?" In Nazi Germany. "Where did you go to school?" In Poland. "Where did you get married?" In West-Germany. "Where do you live now?" In Germany. "Where would you like to live?" In Prussia... Heil Dir im Siegerkranz

I am just back from visiting Gdansk (dd May 22nd, 2012), and I have now a few problems with this joke, but intend to keep it anyway as part of my personal history. Lost and found.

The Epic Barnstar
This is a long overdue barnstar, having gone back and re-read Vladimir Khodov and remembering it as one of the greatest examples of a small number of dedicated editors researching and puzzling over circumstances that the International media often failed or reported falsely, making a fantastic article. I have no doubt but that the Wikipedia article on Khodov is the best resource on the man available...and that is largely thanks to your efforts.
