Jacky Liew (Chinese: 廖城兰) better known by his pen name Si Gongzi or Food Master (Chinese: 食公子), was a Chinese food writer and author in Malaysia. He was rewarded and recognized by P.M.C Social Service Excellence Award. He was also the first person to be known as food gourmet in Malaysia.[1]
Life
[edit]Jacky Liew was born in Malaysia as Cantonese. He was well-known as food critic and author[2]. He has been the consultant to soy sauce factory, many hotels, restaurants, organizations and culinary industry and also acted as College of Agriculture lecturer[3]. In 2006, he was the Nanyang Siang Pau's business commissioner. In 2008, he was granted by the Tenth Yang Di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia Tuanku Ja'afar with Social Service Excellence Honors[1][4] and obtained the "World's French Cuisine Master Badges"[3]. In 2011, he received the Excellent Paper Award in China International Symposium [5]. In 2012, he entered into the list of celebrities among hundred years in Kluang[6].
Career
[edit]Since 1996, Jacky Liew has began to publish his food and travel articles in magazine Food World (Chinese: 风味 Fengwei), Apple (Chinese: 苹果 Pingguo), Traveler's Digest (Chinese: 旅行家Luxing Jia). In 2000年, he started to use pen name Si Gongzi and being a food columnist in Feminine (Chinese: 风采 Fengcai), Oriental Cuisine (Chinese: 美味风采 Meiwei Fengcai) until 2014[3]. In 2007, Jacky Liew began to turn his writing style from information-based food miscellaneous into political elements[1]. Other of his food columns in the publications are Long Life, Love Beauty, Agroworld, New Life Post, My Wedding, Powerful News, Food Digest and so on[3].
