Hilja Sula Tavaststjerna (February 22, 1848, Saint Petersburg – January 14, 1924, Turku) was a Finnish-Swedish teacher and children's literature author.[1][2][3]
Career
[edit]Tavaststjerna graduated as a teacher and then worked in Helsinki, As director of Privata Fruntirnmerskolan in 1879 –1900.[4] She also adapted fairy tales into plays performed at schools and various parties.[4]In 1900, the play collection Sagospel was published, which contained the play Cinderella. In 1906 it was published for children in a new expanded version.[5][failed verification]
