On August 7, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a wedding was held in Millinocket, Maine, an area that previously had no COVID-19 cases. The wedding, attended by 55 guests, is believed to have resulted in a total of at least 177 cases in the rural area, including 7 deaths.[1] None of those who died were guests at the wedding. The superspreader event received a lot of media coverage, including multiple airings on The Rachel Maddow Show.

(see the help page). The suit alleges that the facility where the deceased was staying allowed a wedding guest to work a 10-hour shift following the wedding, despite the fact this worker was showing COVID-19 symptoms. [2]
