Nastaran Zahir is a branch director of the Cancer Training Branch in NCI's Centre for Cancer Training. [1]
Career
Dr Zahir was awarded her BS degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkley and completed a Phd in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania at the Institute of Medicine and Engineering.[1]
Her Postdoctoral training was completed at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases in the fields of stem cell biology, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine studying spatial-mechanical regulation of mammary morphogenesis and therapeutic resistance. [2]
Dr Zahir joined the NCI extramural program in 2009 as Program Director at the NCI Centre for Strategic Scientific Initiatives in the former Office of Physical Sciences, Oncology. Dr Zahir has coauthored numerous publications in biological and physical sciences [2] including a recent perspectives article on the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of cancer [3]
