About Me
[edit]I am a fairly recent convert to the world of web-based collaboration. I work at a research and development facility in San Diego as a project manager and analyst. I have some training and experience in web site design, image and web development applications like DreamWeaver and Photoshop, and I've built web based training modules using ToolBook II and scripting languages such as HTML, XHTML and CSS. I've built a commercial website for a local San Diego business as well as pages within restricted domains for the government.
I have a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from National University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a diploma in Web Page Design from a US vocational training institution. I successfully completed a course in Web-based Training Design, sponsored by Ohio University, and I'm currently enrolled in college-level courses in scripting and programming. My ultimate goal is to do web development full-time, one day. I love the creative aspect and the challenge of designing something that is both visually appealing and utilitarian.

Wikipedia Projects
[edit]I am facilitating the development of reference products for government agencies involved in communications technology. These products are used as research and study guides by people who are relatively new to electrical engineering and communications analysis. They also serve as reference tools for those with more experience in the field, but who may occasionally need to review learned information. While I do not have a technical background in communications science and engineering, I collaborate with engineers and physicists who provide me with technical data and products that I develop into pages.
Wikimedia Commons
[edit]I support the use of Wikimedia Commons for hosting images and other media in the public domain or available under a free license, rather than hosting them on Wikipedia directly. This makes images and media easily available to other projects as well as Wikipedia, and allows greater collaboration between projects. I only support image hosting directly on Wikipedia in instances where hosting the image is prohibited on Commons, such as for fair use images.
