Peter N. Constandelis, born in June, 1953 in Paterson, New Jersey is a military historian, author, poet and entrepreneur. Mr. Constandelis attended Eastside High School in Paterson, during the height of the Civil Rights movement. The movie, Lean on Me, which is based loosely on the life of Joe Louis Clark, a principal. Mr. Constandelis then embarked on a long drive toward his bachelors degree, starting at Fairleigh Dickinson University in the 70's, and graduating from Oxford University's Harris Manchester College in 2013. [1] After decades of running varying businesses, most notably his real estate business, Paradeisos Properties in FL[2] and his limousine business, Constant Limo, he decided to begin his quest to write about World War II.
His first novel, "8000 Feet Over Hell",[3] is used as a textbook in American Classrooms. This book is a memoir of Nicholas T. Constandelis's adventures during World War II, from his induction into the US Army/Air Force to ultimately flying 35 combat missions over Japanese targets. While being both historically accurate and well documented, this book is a personal account of everything of interest that went on, what his father saw, felt, and thought during those harrowing times. Mr. Constandelis tried to communicate the total experience of the War from a young and inexperienced GI's viewpoint, and have shared both the humorous and horrific details of the experience. The book contains many black-and-white photographs. Mr. Constandelis is currently working on his second novel which discusses the POW experience of a veteran of World War II in Germany.
Mr. Constandelis continues to write poems and novels, and speaks to groups on US History to help educate youth of the power of our freedom.
