About Me

Some hobbies that I have include baking, reading (both fiction and nonfiction), and playing the violin. I am currently a 1st violinist in my local orchestra. Playing the violin can help improve your mental capacity and increase your memory. I also enjoy watching and acting in musicals. Some of my favorite past productions include Something Rotten (Nigel Bottom), The Prince and the Pauper (Tom Canty), and Shrek the Musical Jr. (Pig/Ensemble). My family and I own pets as well. We have two birds, two cats, and a dog.

Wikipedia Interests

In the future, if I am ever active on Wikipedia, I will most likely create/edit pages for lesser-known animal species (e.g. Panda Ants, Lowland Streaked Tenrecs, Indian Purple Frogs). I have always been fond of animals, and would like to help contribute to their Wikipedia pages. I would probably be found making small changes to pages with grammatical errors and/or false facts as well. At this point in time, I have not yet completed any pages.

Article evaluation

For the past 10 years, I have been learning how to play the violin using the Suzuki method, created by Shinichi Suzuki. I wanted to learn more about the history of this method, so I searched for an article about it on Wikipedia, and while visiting, I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its age, the under-represented viewpoints, and its citations.

Age

This article needs to be updated. The information about the Suzuki repertoire is extremely out of date and should be changed. The same goes for the sources and citations. They are not recent, so most of the information in this page is most likely false and/or outdated.

Instrument Repertoires

While reading through the article, I noticed that most of the mentioned instrument repertoires for the Suzuki method had very little information. For example, the violin, viola and piano had plenty of information, whereas the flute, cello, and trumpet (which are taught using the Suzuki method as well) had almost none, even though they are all equally played instruments. This section was under-represented, and should have more details added.

Citations

On this page, there are not many citations. The ones that are listed are not from the most reliable sources, and the author(s) of the article did not include the links to them. Furthermore, the sources in which the information was found should be linked to specific sections in the article, which was not done. Because of this, readers will have no idea whether or not this information is true.

Summary

For the most part, this page was decent. It had a good amount of information, but most of it might not be true or reliable due to the lack of citations. An example of this was the History section. There were plenty of facts that were not backed up by any (reliable) citations, as they should have been. In addition to this, the article would be more acceptable if extra pieces of information were added about the Suzuki repertoires.
