TSVC is an American venture capital firm based in Los Altos, California. The firm specializes in seed stage investments in private companies in various technology areas.
Notable investments by the firm include Zoom Video Communications, Carta, Ginkgo Bioworks and Quanergy.[1]
History
[edit]TSVC was founded in 2010 in Silicon Valley under the name TEEC Angel Fund.[2] Eugene Zhang and Chun Xia, both alumni of Tsinghua University, founded the fund and were General Partners of Fund I.[3]
Like other venture capital firms, TSVC is structured as multiple limited partnerships, representing different fund vintages. The first three funds operated under the TEEC Angel Fund name: TEEC Angel Fund (2010)[4], TEEC Angel Fund II (2012)[5], TEEC Angel Fund III (2015)[6]. Beginning from Fund IV (2016), and continuing to Fund V (2021) the firm took the name TSVC.[7]
Investments
[edit]TSVC has made more than 250 investments in early-stage companies.[8] When Zoom raised its first $3 million, TSVC, together with several individual angel investors, underwrote the round.[9]
