Margaret Talbot born in the UK in 1955 is a founding member of the group Maggs and Trish. She is regognised for the lead vocals on such tracks as the 50p Rap, Put Some Washing In and Rose Garden. [1]
Career
[edit]In 1988 she began to perform ealy versions of karaoke in pubs around Leeds. When her friend Trish Dunne visited the city from Cheshire they both performed karaoke together. It wasnt until 1993 when they decided to form a duo together and after that recruited friend Linda Brown who joined the group and began two tours of the UK and released a single Rose Garden. The original duo decided that they would keep their name but call themselves the Maggs and Trish Group.
In 1994 Linda decided to leave the group and persue a solo career but still remained good friends with Margaret. In 1998 she starred with Trish on another VHS called Downtown/Live at the Shaftsbury a pub in Leeds. For the next two years the duo remained inactive and in 2001 announced their retirement. [2]
In 2007 however after support from friends and family Magaret suggested that the duo should re-form as Trish at this point was doing tribute work for the Carpenters.[3] The duo remained steady until May 2013 when they announced they would be taking a time out due to them both wanting to persue solo careers. Margaret began playing the venues where Maggs and Trish first started out like The Cavalier Inn and The Harp in Leeds as well as a tour of Liverpool in the Summer 2012. [4]
In the fall of 2012 Margaret and Trish decided to re-form again after demand from fans. They then released their most successful single to date with Put Some Washing In which Margaret takes lead vocals. A comical song all about how to wash your clothes and hang them out to dry, received high youtube viewing figures. In December 2012 Trish's relative Rachel Dunne joined the group.[5] In 2013 Margaret again took lead vocals for their hit 50p Rap. [6]
