St. Lawrence University, Cameroon is an international private university in Cameroon that has an American framework and a Cameroonian character[1]. St Lawrence University, Cameroon adopts the American liberal tradition which emphasizes the whole-person development approach, student-centered teaching and broad cross-disciplinary curriculum[2].
SLU was founded in 2012 with the creation of the American Institute of Cameroon and in the 2016/2017 academic year, it was upgraded to a university authorized and accredited by the Cameroon Ministry of Higher Education (MINESUP)[3], the Ministry is in charge of implementing and developing government policies and programmes in higher education (UN Spider Knowledge Portal)[4]. SLU Cameroon confers certificates, diplomas, Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees. The education college Kencholia Teacher Training College (KTTC) is also approved and accredited by the Cameroon Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC)[5] and the Cameroon Petrochemical Engineering Academy (CPEA) is authorized and accredited by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training.
SLU is one of the leading higher education institutions in Cameroon. The "Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) Spain, ranked St Lawrence University as the 13th best private higher education institution and the 22nd overall best higher education institution in Cameroon.[6]

The University’s main campus is located in the suburban town of Ndop in the North West Region of Cameroon. The main campus of the university is envisaged on four (4) hectares of land located on the gentle slope of the Ngoketunjia Mountain along the Ring Road. The temporary campus is located at the campus of St Isidore High School, Catholic Church Street in Ndop. SLU also has Campus Centres Douala in the Littoral Region and Yaounde in the Centre Region.
In keeping with its goal of promoting research and academic excellence, St Lawrence University encourages continuous research and publication by members of its academic community. Such publications include Selection of Decision-Making Models in Intergovernmental Organizations[7] and ImagiNation: Theorizing the Nation in Postcolonial Anglophone Cameroon Poetry[8]. From August 25 - 26 2016, St. Lawrence University in partnership with the Cameroon English Language and Literature Association and the Higher Teacher Training College at the University of Bamenda organized an international conference on the theme of cultural nationalism in Cameroon and Africa[9].
