About me

[edit]

My name is Ellen and I am a mom to a crazy little boy. Some of my hobbies include traveling, reading, listening to music and podcasts, going to festivals and concerts, and cooking. Going to concerts can decrease stress hormones in your body such as cortisol.[1]

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

If I use Wikipedia in the future, it will be to research my current and future interests. I will also use Wikipedia to further my education.

Article evaluation

[edit]

Over the past few years, I have grown to love quite a few podcasts, in fact, I spend a good amount of my down time listening to them. Whether I am cleaning or getting ready for the day, I always have one playing in the background. I wanted to search my favorite on Wikipedia, hoping I might learn more about the podcast and the hosts themselves. I visited The Last Podcast on the Left article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the outdated citations, lack of citations, and lack of information.

Outdated citations

[edit]

For the most part, the article is very current with its citations since most are dated for this year. However, there are a couple citations towards the end in reference to their book that are what I would consider outdated. The citations were dated for last year before the book had officially released in April of 2020. With a quick search I found an up to date article which included an interview with all three of the hosts talking about the book.

Lack of citations

[edit]

For how short the article is, there is a decent amount of wikilinks but there are plenty of missed opportunities to add citations. For example, the article mentions serial killers, UFO sightings, conspiracy theories, and ghost which are not only lacking citations but could also be edited to include wikilinks. Another example would be the mention of the outro song which had a wikilink but again, there was no citation.

Lack of information

[edit]

I found a serious lack of information on the hosts of the podcast other than a wikilink for Henry Zebrowski since he also has a career as an actor and a comedian. There was no mention of other podcasts that each of them also host, where they grew up, how they started the podcast and other information they have offered throughout the years. I also would have enjoyed the article to have included Ben’s political career.

Summary

[edit]

The article has a decent amount of information, giving just the basic idea of what The Last Podcast on the Left is about. I think doing a deeper dive into the hosts of the podcast and the topics they cover, amongst other things, would really enhance it’s potential to be more informative.
