The 75th Russian Victory Day
[edit]The 9th of May is an essential date in Russia. Every year its celebration is held all over the country and people of all ages take part in commemorating the Great Victory.
Why is this day so popular in Russia
[edit]Russia was suffering extremely severe life trials during World War 2. So it took huge courage and tremendous losses to oppose the power of Nazi Germany. The whole nation has united together and led their country to its victory. That’s why the holiday has such a great respect from Russian population.
Traditional celebrations
[edit]Talking about the celebration of the day, each year it consists of similar events. Firstly, the military parade and performances of special force soldiers are the basis. Secondly, the Immortal Regiment and a concert dedicated to veterans are an integral part of the festivity. The regiment represents hundreds of people holding the portraits of relatives who fought in World War 2 and walking together around their cities.
The Victory Day was another story in 2020
[edit]The 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory was different from all the previous holidays. First of all, Russian Air Force organized a flight across more than forty Russian cities. By the way, seventy-five jets and helicopters participated in the event. This is the largest military air display in the Russian history. What is more, over nineteen countries have demonstrated their troops in Moscow parade. Also, due to coronavirus pandemic, the government has come up with the idea to establish some online alternatives. Thus the virtual Immortal Regiment was developed. The website created an opportunity for people to share the veterans’ photos and stories of their heroic deeds. This new option had a great success and obtained national recognition at once.
