Hedvig Inc. is a software-defined storage startup based in Santa Clara, California. Founded by Avinash Lakshman in 2012, Hedvig came out of stealth in March 2015. To date, Hedvig has less than 100 employees located in the United States as well as EMEA.
While working at Amazon from 2004 to 2007, Lakshman co-invented Amazon Dynamo. He is also attributed to the development of Apache Cassandra in 2007 when he went to work for Facebook. While creating Cassandra, Lakshman got the idea for Hedvig.

Since emerging from stealth, the company’s major accomplishments include: making CRN’s emerging vendor list, being named a Tie50 winner out of 2,716 candidates, and securing over $30 million in funding.
Hedvig’s product is its Distributed Storage Platform. The technology is comprised of three primary components: Hedvig Storage Service, Hedvig Storage Proxy, and Hedvig Virtual Disk Provides.
