Jeje, commonly known as Nylo, is a pseudonymous Indian musician, singer, songwriter, actor, and filmmaker whose real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation. He is often depicted as a Bitmoji avatar, an Animal Crossing: New Horizons character, and in a few cultures, a benevolent deity.[2]
He has received several accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, two Guinness World Records, three MTV Video Music Awards, three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe Award, four Academy Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, three Critics' Choice Television Awards, and a BAFTA Television Award.
Early life
[edit]Jeje was born and is based in an unknown Southeast Asian country. He has presumably been alive for over a decade. Some sources suggest he has been alive for over a century, though those claims have been disputed.[2]
Career
[edit]Music
[edit]In 2019, Jeje released what critics and audiences alike have hailed as the most inspired musical experience of the 21st century[2]: John's Stew. Following the explosive success and critical acclaim of his debut effort, Jeje began working on a lengthier self-titled record. With production beginning in late 2019, the album, Nylo, was completed on 29 March 2022, with each of its tracks released intermittently. Along the periodic release process, the track list underwent several changes, additions, and removals as Jeje saw fit. The album received universal acclaim.[2] The COVID-19 pandemic is said to have been a factor in its delay.
Film
[edit]Jeje made his directorial debut in 2021 with How to Make Pizza. The video was uploaded to YouTube on 12 November 2021. Though often described as a cooking tutorial, How to Make Pizza tackles controversial and serious subject matter, with mental health and its deterioration being the most prevalent theme. As of November 2022, the video holds a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 137 reviews, with a weighted average of 9.60/10. The site's consensus reads: "Inarguably the ne plus ultra of film-based storytelling, How to Make Pizza is an overwhelmingly enchanting, brutally devastating portrayal of the human condition that rightfully stands as a modern classic."[2]
