Strazde is a village in Talsi Municipality, Strazde Parish, Latvia, serving as the parish center. It is located near the A10 highway, 20 km from the municipal center of Talsi and 99 km from Riga.
Strazde hosts the parish administration, a shop, a post office, a library, and a leisure center. A local architectural monument is the manor complex with its park.
History
[edit]Strazde (Villa Stratzen) is first mentioned in historical sources in 1253,[3] and 1291.[4] In 1324 the village Strassze was mentioned, and in 1352 – Stradze.[5] The village developed around the former Lielstrazde Manor (Groß-Strasden). From 1918 to 1974 and again after 1992, it has been the center of the parish (and formerly the village council).
