IBM Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM) IBM Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM) is the start of a formal, corporate-wide recognition of superior technical contributions toward IBM Fellow, the IBM highest technical honor to the company's most outstanding technical employees. There are three levels corporate-wide recognition of superior technical contribution in IBM:
Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM)
IBM Distinguished Engineer
IBM Fellow
STSM is a technical position intended to recognize individuals with a clearly superior record of sustained technical achievement and strong potential for continuing contribution to IBM's growth. STSMs are responsible for keeping abreast of Academic and Industry advances in their areas of expertise and applying this knowledge to make technical innovations that enhance IBM's ability to meet its business objectives.
