From this edition onwards the four countries in the european big six – England, France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and Sweden. – Need to participate of two qualification groups to earn a spot, the best performing team of each group and the best performing second place qualify to the cup. For this edition in specific, however, as Sweden are the current champions and have an automatic slot in the cup, the teams were organized in a group of five with the two best performing teams qualifying to the cup.
