The Amerivision Song Contest 1992 was the thirty-seventh edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU), host broadcaster Public Television of Bahamas (PTB). The edition was hosted in the Nassau Silver Hall, in Nassau, The Bahamas, as the country earned the right to host the contest by winning the previous edition.
This edition marked the second time ever a country won two contests in a roll, as Bahamas won the contest just like in 1991, the only other time this happened before was when the Netherlands Antilles won the contest in 1968 and 1969. This was also the first time ever where the host country ended as the winners, and the Bahamas did so by achieving 164 points, 28 points ahead of the runner up Uruguay, those being the largest score and largest margin ever achieved until that point.
Host picking
[edit]Only one bahamian venue submitted a bid to host the contest, therefore it was automatically chosen.

Relegations
[edit]In the 1991 edition, the relegation system was implemented at the last minute to reduce the amount of participating countries, after complaints from delegations, specially the relegated ones, the system was reformed for the next edition, in the new system, a ranking of nations was made based on the average score the country recieved in the last three editions, and the countries with the lowest average were relegated until twenty four were left, with the relegated countries only returning in the next year, with the only countries immune to this being the host nation and countries that participated once in the last three years, such as Aruba. In the end, the three relegated nations were Bolivia, Jamaica and Martinique
