→ order Asterales → family Asteraceae → subfamily Asteroideae → tribe Heliantheae

The tribe Heliantheae (sensu lato) contains about 3500 species in about 300 genera worldwide. It is primarily a North American tribe, with the highest concentrations in the south-west, although some genera occur in tropical and subtropical regions of South America and the Old World.[1]

  • See "Asteraceae - Tribe Heliantheae" (University of Hawaii), which lists the subtribes from "Systematics, Evolution, & Biogeography of Compositae" (2009):
    • Ecliptinae (incl. Calyptocarpus, Melanthera, Sphagneticola)
    • Engelmanniinae (incl. Balsamorhiza)
    • Helianthinae (incl. Helianthus, Scalesia)
    • Rudbeckiinae (incl. Rudbeckia)
    • Spilanthinae (incl. Acmella)
    • Zinniinae (incl. Echinacea, Zinnia)
