Torn Memory were an American Alternative/Underground band formed in 1987, the band originally consisting of Singer and Guitarist Craig Kester, Guitarist, Keyboardist and Rhythm Programmer David Lex Hollenbeck and Singer and Bassist Jay Keister. Torn Memory were originally based at Non-Dasein Studio Fullerton California, where they composed, recorded and performed. Torn Memory would later re-locate to San Francisco, were they would compose, record and perform. They released two CD's: 'Organic' in 1994 and 'Elements' 1996.
The original members of Torn Memory were former members of Tao Mao (which included Singer and Saxophonist Richard Alexander, and Drummer Mark Fullerton). Tao Moa was also based at Non-Dasein Studio. In late 1986, Tao Mao was disbanded, and Craig, David Lex and Jay formed Torn Memory and focused exclusively on writing and recording a follow up to the Tao Mao cassette 'Winter Palace' (Produced by Tim Maag, released Summer 1986).
