User:NoSeptember/pre-admin trials

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The idea is that we conduct a test of someone who wishes to be an admin by asking them to evaluate requests that have been made for admin actions. While the candidate can't actually do any blocks, deletions or protections, they can comment on what their action would be if they were an admin and why. And the rest of us can evaluate how well they handled those decisions.

Blocks

[edit]
  • At a time agreed upon by the candidate they are to watch WP:AIV for a period of time and post on a user sub-page they create what they would do with each notification that is posted on AIV. Would they block? Would they warn? Not block because the person has stopped? etc.
  • The reviewers would evaluate their ability to make the right decisions, with a focus on those calls that were made before an actual admin took an action on the AIV entry (we want to evaluate decisions made without knowledge of what the eventual outcome will be).

Deletions

[edit]
  • The reviewing admins would provide a list of not yet acted upon CSDs, 5 day Prods, close to finished AfDs (etc.) to the candidate. The reviewing admin should make a point of including some tough cases to help see how the candidate handles these.
  • The candidate posts on a user sub-page what their decision on each article would be (before an admin comes along and makes the real decision).

Protections

[edit]
  • Same procedure as above using WP:RPP as a source of articles that the candidate should evaluate.
