Jeanne Louis Davasse de Saint-Amarand, commonly called Sainte-Amaranthe, was born Jeanne Louise Françoise Desmier d’Archiac de Saint-Simon on May 16th, 1751 in Saintes and was beheaded on June 17th, 1794 in Paris. She was a salon host, before turning her salon into a gambling house. Her establishment also served counter-revolutionary interests during the period of the French Revolution.
