Biography

[edit]

Kate's music career started at a young age, when she became the youngest performer to ever play Lilith Fair, at the age of 16.

At just 19 years old, when most girls are only dreaming about meeting their idols, Kate Morgan has already shared stages with some of today’s biggest stars in pop music. She didn’t end up there by chance, but as a result of hard work and genuine talent.

In 2010, Kate was the youngest performer to ever play Lilith Fair and shared the stage with Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, and Erykah Badu among others. The success of these shows landed Kate ten different performance opportunities during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. In, 2011 Kate’s song “You Were Made For This” was selected as the 2011 Western Canada Games theme song. Kate has also played many festival dates including Vans Warped Tour, Live @ Squamish, the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, Canadian Music Week, and the Telus World Ski/Snowboard Festival. The exposure from these shows helped Kate secure television appearances on E-Talk, Urban Rush, the Midday Show and more. Kate was also named Virgin Radio’s “Best Of BC” artist, which saw her music receive regular airplay on radio stations across BC, and a nomination for “Best New Artist” at the BC Interior Music Awards.

Quickly gaining momentum and a dedicated fan base, Kate caught the eye of many other talented musicians and has co-written songs with multi-Platinum, internationally acclaimed pop songstress Carly Rae Jepsen, Bill Henderson (Chilliwack), Jesse Wainwright (State of Shock), Dave Genn (54-40), Jeff Johnson, Jeff Dawson, Dane DeViller and most recently Juno Award Winning Producer of the Year Brian Howes (Hedley, Boys Like Girls, Simple Plan, Nickelback).

Kate’s new material is her best yet. Co-written as well as produced by Brian Howes, the new songs show a newfound maturity in an ability to write heartfelt lyrics that any girl can relate to while centering around catchy pop hooks. The lead single “Boys With Girlfriends” has been met with an instant positive reaction online and garnered comparisons to Natasha Bedingfield, Colbie Caillat, and more.

With an impressive list of accolades that keeps growing and her strongest material yet to date, 2013 is shaping up to be Kate’s biggest year yet.
