Storylines

In January 2011, Shawn comes to the aid of Molly Lansing (Haley Pullos) as she suffers from Post-traumatic stress disorder after surviving a bus crash. Molly's aunt Carly Jacks (Laura Wright) wants to thank Shawn by offering him a room at her hotel but he declines. It is later revealed that Shawn is working for international crime lord, the Balkan, aka Theo Hoffman (Daniel Benzali). On Hoffman's orders, Shawn abducts Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) after her wedding to mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Shawn Butler is born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. As a kid, Shawn admires his father Ray "Big Ray" Butler. When Shawn is six years old, he and Ray are shopping, and Shawn watches as his father is shot to death during a robbery. He is raised by his mother along with his two sisters. Shawn is a former U. S. Marine and suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder; he also worked as Master Chef before enlisting in the marines. While stationed in Afghanistan, Shawn befriends fellow soldier Mo. Shawn is devastated when he accidentally kills Mo during a friendly fire incident. Shawn began suffering from PTSD when he accidentally injured a young girl in Afghanistan.
