Sh Geetesh Mishra was born in a musical family. He is a child prodigy. He performed in his first concert at a tender age of six. He had his initial training from his father Pundit Mahesh Prasad mishra. Later on he was trained extensively under the guidance of Ustad Shafi Ahmed Khan of Agra Gharana and Late Pundit Kumar Prasad Mukherjee of Gwalior and Agra Gharanas. He is a versatile singer. He is very well versed with the different musical ghranas like Benaras, Agra and gwalior and his music brings out the nuances of each gharana quite explicitly. His mellifluous voice, flawless presentation and a vast musical repertoire make his concerts an aural treat. He was awarded with ‘SUR MANI’ for his contribution to the Hindustani classical music and with ‘sangeet parveen’, a Master’s degree in music from prayag sangeet samiti of allahbad. He had performed in various concerts organized all over India and has been invited many times for special performances on Doordarshan, All India Radio, FM Radio stations and many other private T.V Channels. He holds a Master’s degree (with distinction) in commerce. But his passion for music made him devote his fulltime to serve Hindustani classical music. Besides Concerts and other professional performances he teaches music in his free time in a very reputed musical school in NCR.
